- All encryption and decryption happens on your device

- We cannot decrypt or access your files, even if requested by law enforcement

- If you forget your PIN, we cannot recover your data

 

This is a fundamental security principle of Nyx - we designed it so that even we cannot access your data.

 

## Information We Collect

 

Nyx collects minimal data necessary for the app to function:

 

### Subscription Information

- If you purchase a subscription, we process payment information through Apple's App Store.

- We do not store your payment details - all payment processing is handled by Apple.

- We only receive confirmation of your subscription status

 

### App Usage Data

- We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app (e.g., crash reports, feature usage)

- This data cannot be linked to your identity or files

- No personal information is collected through usage analytics

All your files are stored locally on your device in an encrypted format. We do not:

- Access your device's storage beyond what's necessary for app functionality

- Transmit your files over the internet (except for local WiFi transfer feature)

 

Your encrypted files remain on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

 

## Security Measures

 

Nyx implements multiple layers of security:

 

- **AES-256-GCM Encryption**: Military-grade encryption for all files

- **Per-File Encryption Keys**: Each file has a unique encryption key derived from your master key

- **On-Device Encryption**: All encryption happens locally on your device

- **PIN Protection**: Your master key is derived from your PIN using iterative HMAC-SHA256 (100,000 iterations)

- **Secure Storage**: Sensitive data (PIN hashes, encryption keys) stored in iOS Keychain.

- **Calculator Disguise**: App appears as a calculator for privacy

- **Decoy Vault**: Premium users can create a fake vault with a different PIN

- **Tamper Detection**: Detects debugger, root access, and failed unlock attempts

 

Despite these measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we implement industry-standard security practices.

 

## How We Use Your Information

 

We use the information we collect to:

 

- Provide and maintain the Service

- Process subscription purchases through Apple.

- Improve app functionality and fix bugs

- Provide customer support

- Ensure app security and prevent abuse

 

We do not use your information for:

Since we don't store your data on our servers, you have full control over your information.

 

## Data Retention

 

- **Your Files**: Stored on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app

- **Subscription Information**: Retained by Apple/Google according to their policies

- **App Usage Data**: Anonymous usage data may be retained for app improvement purposes

 

## Children's Privacy

 

Nyx is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
